History and Goals for the 700 Series

It's a hard to imagine a Northern Division layout without one of these "monsters". I picked this one up used, and pretty cheap, actually, on eBay from Dan's Trains (whom has to be one of the best sellers on eBay). I had been lusting over the Division Point, but, well this was about a quarter the price...just about the only good thing I've gotten out of the 2008-9 downturn in the economy!

Box fresh - well, really not, as this is used model.
Original foam
And unpacked on my test layout.
For size comparison, with the 7917 (an Alco S2)
The model does NOT like 24 inch curves, as you can see it lift off.
Front view
And the underside. All drivers are flanged

The tender has a great hinged vestibule
and you can see the average condition of the paint.

Electronics

It is my intent to run this with DCC and Sound equipped. The model currently is DC and equipped with a can motor, and no lights. It runs very well under DC.
