Rekonbuggy 1.0

- 7 SEPTEMBER 2004 - There was a recent modeling competition held on line on The WAAAGH forum, a competition that included some pretty basic and challenging rules;

So I was at a bit of a loss of what to do - and than the sentinel boxed set I got off of eBay caught my eye. My first attempt resulted in pulling off the plasticard pieces I had attached and starting over, as that design was a cab-forward idea that just didn't work visually.

The reworked design just sort of took shape, and I like how it turned out. I quickly realize that it was starting to look like one of the modern special forces dune buggies, hence it's orky moniker - da Rekonbuggy.

So there aren't a lot of WIP shots of this buggy, as I had to keep it a "secret" until the Compton was over. I did cheat a little though, as I liked it well enough that I actually fielded it a month ago at the Boston GT.

If you have time, check out the rest of the site too - including the ork army list, and the other conversions.

so 'ere it is!

Basic assembly is complete.
and the other side.
Stowage, in the form of an extra missile, and IG back pack, was added to this end.

I decided to keep this side clean, just adding the crank case (tan piece) to the motor.

I kept the stock sentinel motor, and just added a fuel rail injection system (tan), and some fuel tanks (the heavy flamer bitz below). My theory was the sentinel got it's legs blow off, but was otherwise ok. Gooba just added a steering mechanism, and put wheels where the legs fit.
Here it is completed.
My painting still isn't the best, but it's coming along
I figured a hot rod like this needs a boozed up driver - yeah, he's a merlot drinker! I also realized after taking the pictures that I didn't do a good enough job in removing flash from his arm.
Here is the reworked engine compartment.
And a front view. It took a long time to drill out those IG missile launchers.
Here's the driver.
And the stowage side. I still want to add a whip antenna and a flag.
detail montage.
