Battlewagon

- UPDATED 4 FEBRUARY 2008- This model is now for sale on Ebay.

I just got this straight from Oddballz in Hong Kong, and Goobaz giving it a once over to see how we can finish this model.

If you have time, check out the rest of the site too - including the ork army list, and the other conversions.

so 'ere we go!

Land raider based, this has nice lines, and will compliment the Kr00zAda nicely.
.
First modifications were to create a view slit for the grot driver (seen lower right corner). The grot was so nicely done, that I wanted to keep him, even though grots seldom drive Konvikt rigs.
And with the viewslit in place.
A prop rod made of a paperclip holds it up.
It was decided after some suggestions on the Waaagh to make this a convertible so I can use it either as a bwagon or as a looted land raider. I really like this concept, so to start with, I began working on the central turret. Here, the mounting plate from a razorback is cut in half.
And the panel behind the driver is prepared
and cut out to match the turret ring of the razorback mounting plate.
It fits as hoped.
And with the land raider twin linked heavy bolters. I fully intend on leaving this weapon mount loose, so that it can be swaped out with a zzap gun, kannon, or lobba for battlewagon usage.
I added some riveted strip styrene along two sides to close gaps, and inverted the razorback panel to expose the hatch side.
I think this works nicely.
Next up were the sponson weapons. I decided to start with lascannons, and cut one in half as shown.
The mounting points were left in great condition, so adding a rare earth magnet was easy. This is the key the convertable concept, as I can switch out twin linked bigshootaz, rokkitz, or skorchas for use as a battlewagon.
A full, uncut las cannon was added to the outside, and I had to bend the cable out to provide clearance.
Finally, an orky plastic guard and some gubbinz round out the las cannon assembly.
I currently can't find my other rare earth magnets, so while the other las cannon sponson is done, I spent a little time adding some more armor plates to the right side.

On to the engine. I started by making a box (the dark plastic is from tamiya tank kit), and added a radiator from the chimera rear hatch.

And detailed up. That's a left over piece of las cannon, part of the sponson connection for the las cannon, part of ahunter killer missle, and air cleaners from that Tamiya kit.
I actually stopped detailing it. you'll see why.
Getting it in, it got stuck, and I had to remove the second air cleaner (for now)
Once in place, it's hard to see, so a lot of the details are lost.
For a rear top, I cut this piece of chimera hull down.
And then trimmed the angles off.
And finally decided the half windows had to go, and cut it down some more.
Just sizing it up.
I'm not sure if it's going to go here still.
More armor plate to the front and right side
and a little on the right. Note the battle damage.
Back to the engine compartment. Some plasticard and cutting removed the viewing blocks and hid some gaps. The exhaust is from the chemical plant kit.
A view from the rear
and the engine is in place. You can see why I quit detailing it.
The roof part is loose for now, until painting is complete.
I'm planning on keeping the big hatch open.
A added some more plates to the left side
including a working ramp
